Alcohol and live music: Party with Shanghaiist!

tanghuishanghai.jpgOn Friday, September 16, Shanghaiist will officially turn 67 days old. Sounds like a reason to celebrate!

So, on the night of Sept. 16, head on down to the British Bulldog Pub for drink specials, great live music and the chance to win some pretty damn nice prizes. The party is open to everyone, and those who bring a printout of the party flyer (which has yet to be designed ... check back soon) will get an extra two hours of happy hour (meaning 2-for-1 on selected drinks).

We're happy to announce that old-school country and western band the Shanghai Cowboys -- dare we say, the best country band in China -- will turn the stately pub into a honky tonk between the hours of 10 and midnight. And, just confirmed last night: Xingfu 13, the electrifying house band from Tang Hui Pub (featuring Tang Hui's photogenic owner Zooma on lead vocals) will play one rousing set starting at 9 pm (provided they can get someone to loan them two guitar amps, one bass amp and a drum set ... their's will be in use at Tang Hui ... any volunteers?).

shanghaicowboys.jpgThroughout the evening, we will be handing out prizes to some lucky guests. We are begging relying on local businesses for prize dontations: gift certificates, vouchers, coupons, clothing ... we're a fledgling city blog, we'll take anything! Interested in helping out? Email dan(@)shanghaiist.com.

Confirmed donors so far include:

Thanks to the British Bulldog Pub and all the businesses that have agreed to help out so far!
