Her: The 1,000 faces of Ahree Lee
Starting in November of 2001, I have been taking a picture of myself every day and I haven't stopped yet. Me was screened at a number of festivals in 2003 and 2004, including L.A. Shorts Fest, the Silver Lake Film Festival in Los Angeles, and Film Fest New Haven, where it won audience and jury awards. Music by Nathan Melsted.
It's a brilliant idea. And we can only hope she keeps it up for decades to come -- and then maybe we can see some changes. What we learn from this segment of her life is that Asian women don't age much in three years and that Miss Lee abandoned black-rimmed hipster glasses for a short period of time and then decided to give them another try. A good move. They look good.

And yes, I am aware that this has nothing to do with Shanghai. But I thought it was kind of cool, and I am assuming some other people in Shanghai will, too.
Ahree and I went to the same grad school and she was one year above me. She actually hired me to shoot a bulletin board on campus with the same technique -- one picture of the bulletin board everyday for a semester. She then made a movie out of it.
I happened to see her slef-portrait movie on YouTube a few days ago. It's amazing to realize her video has been so popular during last couple of days.
i think there were copyright issues with the youtube version... why don't you send people to the atom films version which ahree endorses?
