Chinese public health posters online

chinahealthposters012207.jpg
chinahealthposters012207b.jpgThe United States National Library of Medicine has a neat online archive of Chinese Public Health Posters.

The two up top are from the Prevention of Diseases section. On the left, we have "Go to have smallpox vaccination" (1956) and on the right, "Declaration of war on SARS!" (from way back in 2003). Look at the big version of that one to see what SARS looks like when magnified ... scary.

The two posters to the right are from the Hygiene Education for Children section. On the left is "Brush your teeth with your own toothbrush" (1935) and on the right is "I cover my mouth when I cough, and I spit into spitoon" (1950). Well, you can't win them all.

Other categories are Understanding Human Body, Public Health Movement and Pharmaceutical Advertisements.
