Fake Products: Swallow your rice before reading

slideshow
This entry has a slideshow. To view the slideshow your browser must have the Flash Player. (If you are using a newsreader that doesn't support Flash click here to launch the slideshow.)

Yahoo! China recently ran a series of photos of fake brand-name products that they called "rice sprayingly funny piracy" (令人喷饭的盗版). In the spirit of piracy, we downloaded those photos and put them on our own site. We also added some other related images we found during a cursory Flickr search.

Got a photo you would like to share? Email it to photos@shanghaiist.com and we'll add it to the slideshow.

Some photos from Yi Shiang, Dutch Tom, Brooklyn Hilary, neinlsNO, oopsilon, gray eminence, nikonfanboy, Chasqui, DaRoiT, MissHolidayGoLightly, and staalnakke.

You my also enjoy these Flickr sets and pools: UCLA Yankee Cola, Mutant Knock-offs, strange clothing/bad English, Engrish, and Chinglish.

I like how the Pama has a 'fro.

Yonghe changed their logo to a bowl of noodles that morphs into the character for "yong". I liked their old rip-off logo better.

I find it ironic that the paid advertisement accompanying this post -- whose topic is IP violations found in China -- is for Abbey Road Cafe. Did the Beatles agree to license their image hence endorsing this Shanghai establishment? Can anyone verify that?
